Waterways

Boating on the Erne and Shannon waterways can only be describe as one of life’s simple pleasures offering beautiful scenery and wildlife, historic ruins and a whole host of actives, from fresh water swimming, angling, skiing and many many more.

Cruising on the Fermanagh Lakelands

Discover the magic of Lough Erne from the comfort or your own boat. Join the craic and experience the unique home-grown entertainment at the many watering holes along the convoluted waterway. With hundreds of secluded moorings and quiet islands, a boat is the best way to see the true Lough Erne, even for the inexperience boater. While there is no licence requirement for cruising in Northern Ireland I would highly recommend a visit to Cruise Ireland for some boat handling hints and tips.

Fermanagh offers a diverse range of activities to boaters on Lough Erne. You can visit one of the many islands and peninsulas that Lough Erne has to offer, viewing the stunning blanket of Bluebell’s at Inish Davar, the monastic site at Devenish Island and the monastery located on Inishmacsaint and not forgetting the popular town of Enniskillen that offers a host of shops, bars and restaurants and the ever popular Taste of Enniskillen Experience. For the more energic boater the Fermanagh Lakeland has a host of water sports available, whether personal use or hire. You can hire paddle boards and canoes, visit the Share Centre discovery village, delight at the professional wakeboarder’s at the Wakejam festival or go on a walking tour of Crom Castle. Least not forgetting Angling, which still remains one of the most popular activities that Fermanagh has to offer.

...Fishing/Angling on Fermanagh's lakelands...

Whether you have your own boat, hire a day boat or just take advantage of the jetties, fishing is the most popular sport in the Fermanagh lakeland’s, offering more than 300 square meters of water, a heaven for anglers with no close season. There are many popular Lough’s, rivers and fisheries that are easily accessed by visitors to Lough Erne.
